When all your manuscript files are uploaded, the EES system will create a PDF for you to approve. Depending on the size of the files you have uploaded and your internet connection speed, the time needed for the system to build the PDF will vary. You will receive an e-mail from EES when the PDF is ready for approval.
1. Go to the Main Menu. Your manuscript can be found by clicking on the link labelled Submissions Waiting for Author's Approval.
2. You will be brought to a table containing all manuscripts you've submitted to Elsevier Editorial System that you have not approved. This table contains information such as the Title, Date Submitted, Status Date and Current Status of your manuscript.
3. Click View Submission to see the PDF version of your submission. You must view the PDF before you can approve the submission and send it to the journal office. The submission will open in Adobe Reader (please refer to Adobe for more information).
If the View Submission link does not open the PDF file, click here for information.
4. Plagiarism is globally recognized as a serious academic offense. Please read and adhere to the guidelines for Ethics in Publishing. Please accept these guidelines by ticking the box in the last column before you approve your PDF.
5. In many journals it may also be necessary to verify the quality of the figures. To do so, click on the link View Artwork Quality Results.
6. Click Approve Submission in the Action column of this table to indicate to the Editor/Editorial Office of the journal that you have checked the PDF version of your manuscript and are satisfied with the contents. You will then receive e-mail notification confirming your approval. The manuscript will now move to Submissions Being Processed on the Main Menu page.
If anything prevents you from completing the submission process (such as an unexpected shutdown of your computer), the Elsevier Editorial System will save the incomplete version of your submission. You can access it by clicking Incomplete Submissions on the Author Main Menu.
If you want to edit your submission before it is officially submitted click on the Edit Submission link. This link brings you to the same pages you filled in when initially submitting your manuscript. You can change any of the information in these pages.
When you've completed your edits, click Submit. You will receive an e-mail notification that a revised and updated PDF of your manuscript is ready to be viewed.
If you encounter problems with the PDF version of your manuscript that cannot be solved by editing the submission and re-uploading corrected files, please contact our Customer Support Department.
